XP clock speeds

i guess i may be a little out of it, but why is AMD calling their newest processor the 1800 if it doesn't actually clock at 1800 mhz. Seems like a little bit of a marketing ploy to me. I'm just wondering, i'm sure there's a good reason, i just haven't heard. thanks.

Acording to AMD the rating is to help the public understand that clock speed isn't everything. It is a marketing ploy. The XP 1800 is suppose to be as fast as a thunderbird clocked at 1.8. If you want more info and a chance to win an xp go to :http://www.xppcentral.com/xpp/home.asp
