Ive overclocked my geforce3 already, but i want to overclock my P3 1ghz, cuz its actually underclocked for some reason. I got an intel 815e mobo(heard its hard to overclock with it) Ive never overclocked a cpu before, but i got nessasary cooling, etc.

Thanks in Advance

Welcome to the forums.

Yes, you're right about the intel boards being tough to overclock. As a matter of fact, I don't know you can.

Is there a soft menu in your bios? Does it allow you to change the bus speed? It should have a section that may be called "user defined" or something similar that would allow you to change the voltage, etc.

lets figure this out, i think you may have a 100mhz MB and your running a 133MHZ chip with maybe a multiplier of 7.5 if your running at 750MHZ then this is what is happening your default CV will be 1.7 or 1.75. yep those MB's are tough and your only hope is that there is a jumper on the MB that will let you change to 133 or as Pinky say's a way to change your FSB in BIOS is not you may want to get a new MB, if you get a Abit VH6-2 [pretty cheap] you should have np problem getting to 1200 as long as none of your hardware will be holding you back.

there's a jumper/setting called configure mode, and it says in the manual:

"After the power-on self-test (post) screen runs, the bios displays the maintenance menu. Use this menu to clear passwords."

Could this menu also do what i hope it will do? i really dont want to mess around with the motherboard unless i really need to, cuz i got hw to do. but i can always do a little excerise...

Look for this. If you don't find anything that allows for bus speed or voltage changes, you're probably out of luck.

Also changes made in the bios are not permanent or active when you make them, you have to save and exit and the PC reboots to make the changes effective, so be careful but have fun poking around in there :).

Open up your bios it usually should be at the top of the left list..

Soft fsb dosnt work, and theres no voltage settings or any settings like that. just boot disk selection etc. oh well, guess its not possible.

Well .. We all start some where since you've just been introduced to overclocking you can just sit and learn alot and on your next system it can be a beaut and be overclocking like mad!!

Lol, that's what I do. I have my Dell that I don't mess with (and can't), and then I have my 2nd rig which is the one I play around with. As far as ocing, build your own. Use good parts and you'll get pretty far.

did u look for the frequencies everywhere in BIOS? i think youre might talking about the wrong tab: boot disk selection?
as pinky said you gotta turn it to a user define setting otherwise it wont allow you to choose the frequency - anyway, i beleive you should be able to turn your FSB to 133 once the mobo supports these CPUs. Which BIOS is yours: award, what?
bet you can overclock it!

dude, I've tried clicking/checking on every setting possible. no mentions of anything remotely close to FSB or clock multiplier. It's an INTEL board, I belive I cr*ped out. unless theres a hack or something for the board, I belive it shall be useless.

Looks like you've hit a dead end dude..

The intel boards are a really pain to overclock ..

As I hear even if you change the dip switches it'll detect your chip and won't let you start!

Their chips are great and MBs suck. Oh well, can'r have it all.
