i just noticed somthing the other day and its getting me worried.
my temps for my oced p3 seem a bit high i think

idle is 37c and load is 42c
maybe i should get some better fans on this alpha, or get my lazy but in gear and hook up my swiftech, heh.
anyway what are the max temps that this processor could handle?

Under 40C is what we all aim at but 42C isn't all that bad. My dual P3 1GHz rigs hit up around 44C-45C during the day and cool off around 41C under load at night. I really need some copper heatsinks but can't afford it right now.

I would say you don't really need to worry but everyone can benefit from better cooling.

Under 40C for idle and no higher than 45C are my requirements. Above 50C is usually unstable, 55C+ is dangerous in my book especially if the voltage is set well above default.

Haha, I just went ahead and ordered a couple of SVC's CBG38 copper heatsinks. Should do better than the aluminum ThermoEngines I have now with those Delta's on them. $12.50 a piece with grills isn't bad at all either...

Temperatures should go to the max of 45 degrees .. You should be trying to get temperatures in the mid 30's mainly...


Other than that stop being lazy and hook up the Swiftech!!! or you can send it to me.

If you have atleast two case fans running with your new HSF you should have no problem keeping your temps below 35C [depending on ambient] just make sure if your HS fan blows down that the rear case fan blows cool air in this will supply your CPU HSF with cooler air, after this you should have your temps down enough to squeeze a few more MHZ out of her [never let a CPU rest ! :) in my opinion anything over 35C is to hot for a overclocked CPU theres to many tricks to keep temps down.

as far as your avatar its art to me and thus does not bother me I mean come on dont most of play games that are graphical ?

well that involves hooking up my second power supply, and that includes breaking out the ol sodering gun and going to radioshack to buy a relay (i try to avoid ratshack as much as possible). and i dont have much $$$ right now so i dont want to screw up somthing and fry my psu(s) lol.

i recently bought 3 80mm pabst fans and 1 120mm sunon fan. and i have a second psu to power it all and my swiftech but i gotta go buy a dremel (my last one died from overuse, lol). and i gotta take my compy apart and start slicing some holes in the case for the fans :) once again i gotta get my lazy ass up and work on it, heh.

ovbiously you dont play many games or just "E" rated ones :p
and a lifetime of games has just desentisized me to that kind of vioence, i just thouight the avatar was cool, lol.
