I'm sorry. The amd xp 1800.
thanks
There is really no fool proof way yet. There are different methods out there you could try, but I would wait. That chip is way to valuable. Even the xp trace tape didn't work!:(
Here is a link from the front page. http://www.overclockers.com/tips702/
It is more involved than the pencil trick with the older Athlons.
Hope this helps.
Edit: I agree with Jaws

:D
By the way, Do you have the pits or the slits on the L1's? I heard the slits are a little bit easier!

Hopefully plycon will be able to remedy the problem with the trace tape....i don't like the idea of disecting my new $200 CPU.

Hello,
If you're reading this (and my sincere apologies for having to use a
form-type letter) you ordered Trace Tape from us either on the 30th, or the
31st of October.
You probably ordered the new version to be used with an AMD XP CPU. If you
did, I'm sorry to say that odds are high it will not work with newer
versions of the XP cpus that are currently being sold. Chris and I have
spent the last four hours today testing it with two new 1800+ XP's we just
received. We've tried it on multiple motherboards, etc. We're not having
any luck. It did work on the early 1500+ CPUs that we picked up three weeks
ago... We had also received reports from various people who had tried it
with XPs using the new tape sold with the Golden Sockets. Even Chris Tom of
AMDZone used it in his review of the 1800+ and it worked for him.

But - it is not working for us. We're "old hands" at using trace tape. We
can't get it to work.
We're overclockers, and we support the community that has supported us. I
won't knowingly sell a product that doesn't do what it should. We're
honorable, and fair, and will handle this as best we can. Since we're
having no luck using this version of the tape on XPs (it still works great
on MPs, Durons, and T-Birds) I'm going to pull the orders for it and credit
all accounts back in full.
Here's how were going to handle things.
* - If you placed an order for trace tape (by itself) that shipped today, we
have pulled your order (by calling Fed-Ex and having them bring the order
back) and any charge against your credit card will be voided. If you payed
via Paypal, we will refund your paypal account in full.
* If you placed an order for multiple items today (and trace tape was part
of that order) - we have let your order ship (just so you'll get your other
items on time). When you receive your order - please contact us and we will
arrange a full refund for the trace tape and the return shipping costs to
get it back to us. Please don't use any of the tape though.
* A few orders for tape shipped yesterday. As with the group above - please
contact us and we will arrange to pay for return shipping costs for the
tape, and a refund for the cost of the tape to your card. Again - please
don't use the tape though.
I'm sorry about this folks - the new version looked to be the best solution
for the AMD overclocking community considering the new XP - but since we
can't get consistent/reproducible results - I won't sell it as an
overclocking solution for use on XP CPUs.
Best Regards,
Tony Harrell
