I'm upgrading my second PC, I don't want to spend much on this so I was considering taking a mobo with integrated GPU, go with it for now and later when I will change my x800gto on the first pc equip it on this.

I was wondering.. how would compare a crappo integrated Nvidia geforce 6100 to my old GeForce4 Ti 4200 128mb ... I know the 6100 has P3.0 while the G4 has only P1.0 support but in terms of performance would there be much difference beteween the two cards?

Any integrated card will still get beat by a G4. Even thought the 6100 has new features supported its to slow to use them. I'd guess the 6100 is ~50% as fast as a ti4200.

I don't know about a direct comparison, however the 6100 is not that slow, onboard or not. It's probably about the same speed, and obviously more efficient in today's games. And as you said, it's mainly a placeholder to help you upgrade to PCIe and then get a better card later-on.

I have a G4 Ti4400 (which is also comaparable to a Ti4200) and I would say that it performs much better than my on-board 6100.

Thanks for the replies, after reading also this review http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/chipsets/display/gf6150-gf6100_13.html which was a bit disappointing considering that the 6100 scores only 1400 in 3dmark03 and my Ti4200 overclocked to 300/550 reaches low 1500, I decided to invest few more bucks and take a Powercolor Ati X550 256mb that, while being surely a low-end gpu, should perform quite better than the 6100 integrated solution and hopefully better than my Ti4200 128mb.
