That looks like a slot loading drive right? So, if you saying... to take a normal tray drive... and throw the components inside that?

Not exactly following what you wanna do... more info please :) .

i want to take the "brains" out of my dvd-rom and put them into the slot loading drive to make it a slot loading dvd-rom.

I don't think it is possible, the motor and other connection probably wouldn't fit the connections on the DVD pcb.

yeah i think the drives innards are built a bit differently so the DVD drives innards will probably not fit. but if you dont mind risking the death of two drives and a fair bit of hacking and cutting you can try.

Whatever happened to slot loading drives? I always thought they looked better.

Dunno, they're on the G4's for Macs... saw them yesterday... same with thier Mac Minis.

Was at the Mac store in Pittsburgh. I think I'm gonna heist one of their 30" displays :drool:.

Those are for laptops, but it looks like you could get a converter. Pretty slick.
