The F@H site shows that a dual proc F@H should be out mid-November. Anyone know anything about this? Would be really nice for us users with slower dual proc machines - maybe I'll even be able to finish 1 WU!! Also, if anyone ahs a beta of it, please could they mail it to me by any chance??

Right now the only way to use both processors would be to download the "No Nonsense" Text Only Version and run two copies of it. There is no installer. Make two directories and place one copy in each directory and create a shortcut for each copy using the -local flag in the shortcut. Then run each copy from the shortcut, enter your username, team 32 and whatever else it asks for after it's enter shut the client down and restart it to get a user ID#. Below is a link to No Nonsense Text Only Version.
http://folding.stanford.edu/beta/FAH2Console.exe

To use the -local flag you right click on the shortcut icon and select properties. You then enter " -local" (without the quotes) at the end of the target location. There is a space before the dash.
Included is a screenshot.

Thanks for the suggestion - have been running this way for a while but my WU's still take a week or two to finish! It's terrible! Anyone know when the multithreaded F@H is out???

Thanks

I have been waiting along time for this as well, I have 2 dual machines and will have 4 within a month or so and would love it if I didn't have to have 2 copies running. I didn't realize though that they have estimated mid November, that is good news. I wish I had a beta :(.

I also would love if the proxy worked correctly so we could get these labs up and running :).

 bump

Anyone have an update on the dual processor capable F@H???

I think that they are still waiting until they finish ironing out the initial bugs in the client before adding smp. He said it was simple to add, but it changes the code and could create more problems. That's about all I've heard about it. :(

What do you think of posting your dual processor console instructions in the FAQ thread until the client for it comes out?

It's up on the tricks part of the team page although it should probably be rewritten. http://www.overclockers.ws/tricks.html

I can do it later, unless somebody else wants to give it a go. We should have example pics of some of this stuff.
anyway... Been here and shopping online all day for puter stuff for me :) Researched and ended up buying a few goodies from newegg, first order there. WinXP Pro, Antec SX1030B, and some DDR cause I want to install my ECS K7S5A in my main system. So I'll be going from winME, Iwill kk266+, generic case with miserable air flow to Win2k, ECS cheapo board that performs wonderfully, and a case with excellent air flow. Hopefully this will make me happy for a while :)
No new dual processors though. not yet anyway
About time to go shopping IRL now. The crowds may be dying down some. I hope.

Hey let me know how the case works out. When I get some money together I wanna get the 1040b case. I saw a link in case and psu forums for emscomputing.com that has pretty good prices on them. Have fun shopping:D

Be glad to :D That's a better price than Newegg which was $88 I think, but they didn't have XP Pro listed in the OEM edition. Was gonna order from Mwave who had a better price but the addition of the case sent the total shipping cost into orbit so Newegg it was for overall cost. Strange how that works. It may not be in until the end of the week though. Not sure if they process orders on the weekend and with Christmas it may not ship till Wed if I'm lucky. Order 2 day air though so I will cross my fingers :)

Got that case today. The rest of the order never arrived but should come tomorrow. I like it. Surprisingly heavy but very nice and air flow is awesome. With the drive bays removed there was plenty of room to work. It's a little noisy with all of the fans running and I didn't get all of the LED's hooked up but I think that has more to do with the mobo than anything. I removed the Iwill kk266+ and installed one of my ECS k7s5a's because I think it's a better board. So far it's proving me right. I don't think that I need all of these fans running, but haven't installed the mbm5 patch or whatever to make it work with the sis735 chipset so I don't know what the official temps are.

That didn't take too long. :)Yeah I would be curious to know your temps once you get the pc up and folding. What processor are you running in that case? I have been contemplating an XP processor and was concerned the 300w psu might not be enough once you throw in the fans a little overclocking and other assorted goodies.

Yeah. They sent it out on Christmas Eve which I didn't expect and I ordered 2nd day fedex.
I installed mbm5.1. Temps readings are way off. I am using the sensors to guage, so it's hard to tell how accurate they are.
For example it says that the temp inside the case is about 50F which is 15-18 below room temperature. It's showing cpu temp at 49 while Folding, but it's not causing any problems. I just don't think that they're right, but don't have enough time right now to find out what they really are.
I don't know if the voltage reading is accurate, but the Antec psu is the main reason that I went with this case as opposed to a cheaper one. My older psu was just barely holding the 5V above 4.83 and dropped to 4.81 or a touch lower every so often. This one has more of everything running off of it and is holding above 4.9, usually fluctuating between 4.93-4.96 without any adjustment on my part.
CPU is a 1G AYHJA Y @1.4. FSB 133, used the dremel cut and trace method because of the lack of OC options in the bios. One thing that I would have liked would have been an easy way to mount my 120MM Panaflo in the front, but that's not going to happen. Too bad. It's a quiet fan that moves a fair amount of air.

there are fittings for 4 80 mm fans in the sx1040b.

the harddrive carrage has a fitting for one 80mm fan.

Hey you're back. Thanks for the info. I saw an antec model ?? at compusa the other day and took a look at the bracket in front of the hard drives and it looked bigger than the others. I guess because it was a different model or my eyes could be going:eek:
