I'm looking for a 5 in 3 drive cage with a SATA port multiplier built in. I found one here (http://www.raidon.com.tw/web/pro-st2900.htm), but can't seem to find any pricing or purchase information.

Does anyone know where I can find pricing information on something like this?

Thanks in advance

I forget where I saw one online, but it was extremely expensive. You are better off getting an eSATA expander and putting all the drives together in a box.

See? http://www.satasite.com/external-sata-esata-products.htm

I can't find any adapter/expander at the moment.

Here I found some cheaper ones.

The ones you both linked to are external enclosures, and I'm looking for an internal one. Basically it goes into 3 5.25 bays in a case, and gives you 5 3.5 HDD spaces. Here (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817121404) is almost what I'm looking for, it just doesn't have the port multiplier built in.

Thanks.

Instead of getting a port multiplier, why don't you get another pcie sata controller card?

The short answer is expandability. I am considering building a large RAID array using these enclosures and Linux software RAID 5. I would like the ability to expand and eventually use 2-3 of these enclosures for the array, and using port multipliers seems to be the only way to get this kind of expandability without using a very expensive SATA RAID card.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Why not go for the SuperMicro enclosure and a seperate port multiplier like this: http://www.cooldrives.com/cosapomubrso.html ?

That's what I'm going to end up doing if I can't find the enclosure I'm looking for. I'm mainly trying to reduce the number of SATA cables I'll need for the setup.
