I know that lots of you out there have done this, but I finally wrapped up my first go-round with HL2... what a great game. No wonder it won so many goty awards. Really looking forward to Aftermath/ Episode 1 or whatever thay are gonna call it... heard that the release date was pushed back to June now though.
Cheers.

Play it again. I'm on my third pass through the game right now. Even though some stuff seems repetative, their are a few more ways to play the game (different tactics). It'll go much quicker this time too. I tend to get lost a lot going through FPS games the first time.

you know i still haven't beaten HL2. I think i'll go for it soon, seeing as how i can play it now with my 9800.

only part i play over and over again is the zombie village. thought the ending was too easy. hopefully the sequel will wrap up some loose ends.

I will... after I play thru FEAR (which I just installed this week).
Cheers.

Really? that was the one bit that i couldn't stand, IMHO it just seemed to be like they stuck a level of 'They Hunger' in the middle of the game for no obvious reason. Still I still think the game was genius, at first I was just thinking 'wow! wow! wow!' then I thought about my xbox gamer housemates playing halo 2 downstairs, and though 'heh!'

I'll have to try that, i'm guessing you have to use some sort of console command to give yourself that earlier in the game. What would that command happen to be?

Gravity gun part at the end of the game = amazing.
I beat it 2 weeks ago for the first time.

congradulations!
chevy i have yet to play hl2 for more than 5 minutes. i have no idea what to do in the game, i did google for an ebook but there didn't have any level by level info.
when i play the game, i run to a roof and don't know what to do from there? i even select beginning or easy mode in the game, it gives some tips but i still can get on with the game.

You can find MANY walkthru guides online, but I didn't use any. Found that the level progression (where to go, etc) was pretty intuitive, and I am not what one would consider a hardcore gamer.
Cheers.

I loved Half life 2, I'm still looking for the official Gman count though. (on random parts of the game he appears in the background) and I'd like know if all the ones I noticed were the right ones.
As for the story and gameline the best was the starting adn the end IMO. The prison level with the antlions was badass, but I was so disheartened when I couldnt bring them to the next level.
Download some weapon mods or soemthing, I downloaded like one that changes a few weapon sounds, changes the ammount of ammo, weapon damage, definitly different.

I just finished it this past Sunday and came to the same conclusions found on the rest of this board. Definitely a great game.
I am still disappointed that I encountered so much stuttering though. I am thinking it may be my hard drive. BTW, I played the whole thing on my HDTV in 16:9, what an experience!
I STILL havent finished HL 2, you have no idea how many times i get far and then format and forget to back my save up :bang head
I was dissapointed in hl2.Half of the game was absolutely pure gold, the rest seemed liked amature modders made it and it was cobbled together.
The ending was the worst ending ever from any game I have played thus far.Made me feel like I accomplised nothing.I was just a pawn of some weirdo who is messing with me.I got no sense that I was working for him, just some plaything of his.
Also was my first experience with steam.Didn't care for how it hogged my computer resources and internet connection.Hated waiting 20 minutes to play a game I only had a half hour to play at that time.

Well the idea was for you to relize that you realy where a pawn. But I think in the next episodes that valve is puting out, we will have a revolution from the Gman and who is working for, and pave our own path, and maybe find out that who gman works for is the ultimate villian of the universe?

I think it's going to be more of the story from the other characters' perspectives, which will give you some more ideas as the grand scheme of things. It's obvious that there's more to the story than you know, take HL1 for example, and how much we've learned since then, we all had questions when finishing that one as well... Valve has mentioned creating not just the one, but many more recaps to the game, and to help expand the story. But, has also promised in that aspect to invent new questions...
