View Full Version : wus vs score? Can someone explain?
Ok,
I've got 155 wus complete and people with 124 wus are beating me in the scores?
Anyone hazard a guess concerning why? They penalizing me for using a pentium 3? lol

I don't know but I have 6 machines folding, and i'm not doing squat in the ranks right now. I keep missing the server connection to see if the WU's were accepted. Ugh!
Pretty strange.
Anyway, I don't mind, I was just wondering if there was a method to the score/wu madness.
Stanford benchmarked the proteins on celeron 400's. If it took 24 hours then they got 1 point if it took 48 then they got two. It seems that villin's were running at the same speed as the other proteins. but not anymore they seem to take twice as long. This seems to match the score you get for them. It was fun while it lasted but it looks like they got at least one kink out now they need to fix the bugs in the client. Fold on!!!
villins are worth 2 points. So if someone ran off a bunch of them and you didn't, they might have fewer WU's, but a higher point score...

If I'm not mistaken your score depends on how long it takes you to complete the WU. Villins are worth more but it still depends on time. This is how it's suppose to work anyway. Someone explained it to me once but i can't remember for sure. I'll try and find the thread that explained it.
EDIT:Ok did some reading and found that it's based on how long it took their comps to fold the protein. That's how it's based so villins are worth 2 points. Sorry bout the misinformation.
all right. sounds good.
Just wondering. :)
I
I'll have to get my other rig up and running one of these days.
fold on!
