Hey all..I've been using Windows meda player for MP3's and CD's on my system for a while. I've used Winamp in the past and I just downloaded last night to take advantage of the sweet graphix plugins.
For some odd reason, MP3's are playing fine but when I put a regular audio CD in the drive, the playlist shows up but I get no sound.
Anyone ever experience similar problems?
yes, every single cd i ever played with that thing played very glitchy. i have no ideal why:confused:
Make sure you don't have the volume muted in the volume control panel this happened to me yesterday. When trouble shooting it is a good idea to start with the simple stuff first. I have never had a problem with Winamp. let us know how it's going:D

Make sure you have the cable that runs between you cd ROM and sound card plugged in. It won't work without that. There's a way you can enable the playing of audio CDs under windows but I forgot how it goes

Got that covered. Everything was working with Media Player and CD's, but not winamp..but thanks.
Well the only time that I can't play a CD through Winamp is when it is one of those CDs that are "computer enhanced". Winamp won't pick up on the tracks. But since you can get the tracks into Winamp, that's not the problem.....
Try this.... Hit CTRL+P in winamp to bring up the prefrences window. In Plugins section there is a section called output. If the WaveOut Plugin is selected, try the DirectSound Plugin. If it still dosen't work, try seeing if anything is diffrent from the picture I'm attaching.... It's how it's setup on my system... If it still dosen't work, it is on the input side of Winamp....
Well!! The picture didn't post right.... Try these settings....
DirectSound Output Device: Try both options....
DirectSound Block Size: It's just after 32K...
Main Buffer Length: 2.50s
Volume Controll: Enable Volume Controll = X Reverse Balance =
DirectSound Compatibility: Create Primary Buffer = X Play Primary Buffer =
DirectSound Polling Delay: 3ish ms...

ok, ok, this happened to me a while ago - heres what worked for me. Go to preferences->plugins->input, then click on Nullsoft CD/LineIn should be CDDA.dll. click configure and uncheck the top box in the sampling box... worked for me, you just wont be able to see the visualizations when you play a cd.
