Help with wierd W2k server problem?

AMD Duron 650Mhz
FIC AD11 MB
256Mb DDR RAM
Promise Fasttrak66
2 WD 20Gb drives striped
Geforce 2 MX 32Mb
Windows 2000 server

I'm having trouble getting the video working correctly. It only displays the default VGA modes(640x480 and 800x600 in 16 colors and default refresh rates).

I started with a clean install of W2k server, installed SP2 ,the AMD AGP patch and the latest 4in1 drivers.
I've tried several drivers(21.83, 21.85, 21.88 and 22.50).
I upgraded to the latest BIOS (aba45).
There were no errors during the W2k install and none of the drivers reported any problems. The registry appears correct and has all of the modes listed there. But 'list all modes' on the driver only shows 640x480 and 800x600.

The card worked perfectly in my W2k workstation using the 21.83 drivers (on an ABIT KT7A-Raid MB).

Any suggestions? 800x600 is just too ugly even if it's only a server. :)

Have you tried totally uninstalling the drivers via the Device Manager. I had a few problems with a Creative GeForce II MX and had to remove all trace of the original drivers, before it would recognise the Nvidia Drivers.
You might also want to check that the card is recognised in the Device Manager. Otherwise I am stumped as well. Hope this helps.

There's a little program floating around that I've heard of called Detonator Destroyer. I don't have any experience w/ this (I run ATI) but it aparantly gets rid of every trace of nVidia drivers.

I haven't tried the 'cleaner' program yet. I will try it.

But things have gotten wierder. I put the TNT2 card back in and did yet another clean W2k install. It has the same display choices.

This card was working fine before I installed the new MB. I was using an ASUS K7M.

I downloaded NVCleaner and it worked for the TNT2 card.

I put the Geforce2 back in and got the old resolution/refresh/colors.

I guess the Geforce2 and W2k server just don't play nice together.

I'm using the TNT2 at 1280x1024 now with 16bit color. This is sooo much nicer than 800x600 at 16 colors.
