http://www.mercola.com/article/water/distilled_water.htm

It is about health but also distilled water in general. Turns out it may not be good for the long term anyway.

So, if I use mineral water in my WC system and feed it whole grains and veggies, it will live longer?

maybe this quote from the article? i dunno...

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, "Distilled water, being essentially mineral-free, is very aggressive, in that it tends to dissolve substances with which it is in contact. Notably, carbon dioxide from the air is rapidly absorbed, making the water acidic and even more aggressive. Many metals are dissolved by distilled water."

Just don't drink it and you will be fine.

Well, that might eventually be problem if you bled and refilled your system with fresh distilled water twice a day, but once the water leaches an inconsequential bit of copper it will stop. Also, the anti-corrosive additives most people use will keep the coolant slightly alkaline, hence acidity shouldn't be a problem either. It doesn't seem to be a problem even for those folks running straight distilled.

Nope, they lack any minerals so your boy tried to balance itself and you loose even more slats and minerals, something like that.

Lawlz. That's why it's called Distilled Water instead of Drinking Water. Distilled water tastes terrible anyhow. Water needs a certain amount of minerals for better taste, that's why spring water is so popular.

Distilled Water is also used for topping off your battery acid. I'm not sure what else it's used for.

But... this doesn't really have anything to do with watercooling...

But this quote strikes me.... "The most toxic commercial beverages that people consume (i.e. cola beverages and other soft drinks) are made from distilled water. Studies have consistently shown that heavy consumers of soft drinks (with or without sugar) spill huge amounts of calcium, magnesium and other trace minerals into the urine. "
But but but.... I like my coke!

Drinking too much distilled water will trigger Osmosis of water into and minerals out of your body cells. As long as you eat enough it's no problem but surviving on distilled water as only fluid is gonna be hard.

Seawater has the opposite effect, too much salt and minerals.
