I picked up the subject from the "-0.01" AR RadioShack deal discussed ad nauseum in CyberDeals and it arrived today. I have an Asus A7V with 1.2 Athlon sitting around doing not much so I just put this pretty guy on the floor next to it and plugged in the 20 pin ATX cable and a molex to one drive, replacing the "Apollo" 300 that the case came with. I booted. It took about 20 seconds to get from the end of the bios (showing the interrupt devices) to the beginning of the XP startup.

I plugged back in the trusty Apollo and it took less than five seconds to get from Bios to XP. I tried it once more with each PSU. The Ultra 500 again took over 20 seconds, the free with cheap case Apollo again took under 5 seconds. Well under 5 seconds.

Once the Ultra booted everything seemed ok, but that is very weird. Perhaps someone who knows about power supplies can guess at what is happening, but it's enough for me. Looks aren't everything (or in this case, anything). The Ultra goes in the parts bin awaiting some desperate need.
