hello all, my friend was applying ramsinks to his geforce 2 pro card and got some thermal compund on the board :(, i have tried everything to get it off for him,i spent at least an hour rubbing all the spots with a q-tip and alcohal, but no luck, when you turn it on the screen is all fuzzy with lines going through it. i heard somewhere that you can dip the whole card in acetone? if this is true i am doing it today!any help or comments are greatly appreciated :)

acetone should work; it evaporates completely away so it won't mess stuff up. Do NOT use fingernail polish remover, you need really pure acetone. Can be hard to find- ask a high school science teacher. I think they have removal directions on the Arctic Silver website- Might wanna check it out.

From what you said, you could've bridged some voltage line with the compound and permanently fried something.:( Sucks, I've done it before. Hope you get it sorted out!:D
