View Full Version : Look Ma, no glue!
Ok, here's a pic of my video card w/o glue holding anything on. The sink is an old coolermaster cpu cooler (cheap) that I lapped and crossdrilled. I put the original fan from my sk6 on it (25cfm 60 mm) blowing out. The ram sinks are from an old compaq passive cpu cooler I cut up. The holders are a 1/8 inch rod I flattened the ends on and drilled. Got the asII in there too. Now if the dog hadn't chewed up my temp probe I would give some temps. Will this work without glue? You betcha!

Thanks, I know there are a lot of talented guys (and gals too!) out there and experimenters too. Go for it!;)

did you drill the holes into tha board yourself ???
No, those are the original gpu cooler holes, kinda neat huh? You can put a square cpu sink on the original holes this way.

What graphics card is that ? And how did you put the memory heatsinks ?
Very good work !

Thanks, it is a Creative Labs Geforce 2 ultra. The memory has holes already on each end as did the gpu, I just used them for something to put the nylon screws in.
Very nice looking I gotsta admit... My only wonder is how it does in comparison to with glue... Im sure that it works good, just curious about any temp differences... Did you use any kind of paste on it? or is it just connected straight on?
I used ASII on the ram and gpu. Guess I shoulda done a before and after temp check for the scientific community. You can tell a great physical difference ie:touching it with your hand, it barely gets warm to the touch. I am gonna order a new temp probe and will post some temps later. I haven't done it yet but you could mount a small cpu sink to your northbridge this way using this "unpatented" clip for the mounting. It gives a great amount of tension (don't overtighten).:)
