View Full Version : ys 40cfm vs. delta 50cfm?
How much difference in temps do you thnk I would get by switching from the ys to the delta? I figure if it will drop my cpu temp down why not get it cause the ys is already loud.

cause the delta will be louder.
The temp gains will depend of the heatsink you are using. Some will benefit from more air, some wont.
I have the SK6. Think it will run any cooler?
Expect seomthing like a 2c difference. Once you get past 45dba its all loud.
If you have the SK6 then why settle for noisy 60mm fans?? That Delta 50cfm is extremely noisy.
Remember that an SK6 can be used with any 25 or 38mm-tall 80mm fans with no need for any kind of modifications. So if you want lots of extra performance w/o the extra noise, just use the 80mm Delta 68cfm. It's not any noisier than your current YS Tech (or even less annoying).
To put 80mm fans on the SK6, just turn the fan diagonally and use the SK6's provided clips to hold down the 2 opposite corners of the fan. (Use the longer pair of clips for that Delta 68 because it's a 38mm-tall fan).

the only 80mm fan that gives performance on par with the delta 60mm, is the delta 80mm fan.

Not only on par, the 80mm Delta 68cfm will make the temp 3-5 C cooler than a 60mm Delta 38cfm (on an SK6).
But it's true that no other 80mm fans (beside the 80mm Delta's) perform as well as a regular Delta 38cfm (on an SK6).
You guys can do a search for my benchmark of the SK6 with a bunch of different fans. I posted it here about a month ago.
I wish I would have known that I could use a 38 mm fan when I bought it. But you say I can use an 80 mm fan on the SK6 how much cooling am I gonna gain over my current ys 40 cm? Since the fan is sitting diagonal instead of squarely.
Oops I posted a reply off my email link without reading the new one. I guess the question is already answered.

No! There's no need for any kind of adaptor at all. The SK6 doesn't allow you to use an adaptor anyway. Even if you can manage to use an adaptor on the SK6 somehow, it will create lots of back pressure and defeat the purpose of using an 80mm fan.
