My brother came over last night, and we spent a little quality time in the garage modding his brand new Lian-Li V1000. Most of the time was spent modding his Sunbeam rheobus into one of the Lian face plates for a perfect match. We also soldered in some resistors to dim the LEDs, and flipped the LED legs to reverse the colors.

While we were at it, we decided to take it one step further, and do something totally original.

Note the LEDs are to the right of the knobs:

Now that's just not right, left is right, get what I'm saying?

Oh yeah...That's better  :

The aesthetics are much cleaner now with the new face plate, and the LEDs to the left.

Ok, ok, I'll confess. This was a case of Murphy's law. When my brother was marking the holes he layed the Lian face plate front to front with the Sunbeam faceplate, therefore mirroring (i.e. flipping) the holes. The fan controller is now mounted upside down technically. If the controller is mounted the correct way up the LEDs are on the bottom, and the knobs turn the wrong way. It could have been a disaster, but after a little bending ingenuity with the LED legs, it turned out great. :D

I agree. Very fluid, as if it just came with the case. Nice work. :)

In on the LL V series case crew. How do you like the 1000?

Much cleaner than the sunbeam face plate (aluminum grain is going the horizontal on the sunbeam)

Thanks guys.

Your's looks nice too, Ranger. Just claim you meant to stagger them. ;)

Like I said, it's my brother's case. From just looking at the case I am envious though. Lian Li thought everything out on this case. The side panel latch, and wheel lock are ingenious. Also, like all Lians, it has some of the nicest machined metal I have seen. My brother hasn't actually used it very much yet because of PSU incompatability though.

I may have to move my Coolermaster Aerogate controller to an empty bay cover on my P-160.

Great idea!

LOL, nice ZachM. I do have to ask though, how did you get the knobs off from the Sunbeam? I looked at it quickly and couldn't figure it out

Just yank on 'em. It doesn't take much force at all. The knobs are simply pressure fitted onto splined posts.

I did this same thing with my thermal take fan controller. I was a 3.5" model, but since i have LCD there, i modded it into a faceplate for the 5.25" bay and removed all the LEDs. Looks great man.
