Well im back
I decided to get a radeon 8500 and put it to the test,it made incredible gains in all marks of the test.My last benchmark thati did was my best (7279) opposed to 2491 when i was running gforce2 mx:confused:Everything on the radeon 8500 is watercooled, and mean everything so now im just hoping that there will be a registry hack so i can get into the clock speeds, and get even more gains.Again i need to think the doctor 4 his valueble help on my voltage prob.(If any one is interested in my setup on the cooling issue give me an email, and ill send some pics)

is that confused becuase you can't believe the score difference? If so you shouldn't be. The 8500's a great card and the MX's are the verry low end of the geforce2's. As far as oc'ing it download a program called powerstrip. If not download a program i THINK is called radeon tweaker. Someone that has this program can tell you for sure.
BTW: this really should have been put in the video and sound card section of the forum. A mod will probably move it.
Go to Rage3d.com and download radeon tweaker, I have my VE set asynchronously to 210/195(390ddr). Works like a charm.

Video cards are actually get better performance from higher memory timings. So it's better to oc the memory as high as it can than oc the core. That's why the Geforce3's are clocked at around 200core and 500 memory(depending on the version of the card). Both help though you don't want to leave the core at default.

*Moved to "Video and Sound Cards"*
You will want to use a synchronous timing (which means you'll want the core and memory running at the same speed/mhz). Can also use Powerstrip (in my link in my signature below) to set the speeds higher... just increase them 2-3 mhz at a time until there's distortion in the image during 3dmark, then decrease it until that goes away... voila, an overclocked video card.

Actually that is not true, it all depends on the video cards, on cards such as the Rage128s the core was not powerful enough to fill up the memory bandwith, with Geforces the cores cannot be satisfied no matter how much bandwith you thro at the thing....

Need to quote who you're disagreeing with, though i know it's not me, so people don't get confused and think someone's actually questioning me  .

Ok I don' have any experience with the ATI's so that's good to know. Thanks for correcting me.
I use the asychronous timings because when I set the memory to 420MHZ ddr it kept crapping out on me. So I figured I would leave the core up real high and drop the mem until it got nice and stable. I do prefer the synchronous timing but I am just as happy running it this way. :)
