Getting random Visio installer dialogues on unrelated programs

When I start certain programs (2 in particular that I've found so far - Monkey's Audio converter and GTA San Andreas Control Centre) I get a long chain of boxes popping up saying:

Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Visio 2003

...with a cancel button. If I keep hitting cancel and they keep coming up I will eventually reach the end of them and the program I started will actually run. Why do these programs always prompt so many of these dialogue boxes? I do have visio but it's installed just fine.

Does anyone know?

System should be in the signature, I'm on XP Pro SP1.

More info available if I've missed something.

Open Event Viewer (in order to access the error logs, and check for any critical errors)...Start | Run | Type eventvwr.msc and click OK | Highlight "Application" and "System" independently in the LH pane | Right click any error message related to Office or Visio (critical errors are in Red), and select "Properties" | Copy and paste (use the "Copy to Clipboard" button under the arrow butons in the Event Properties" window) a couple of the latest critical error messages as they appear under the "Description" field, and post them in this thread.

You might also want to read up on what Kelly has to say about troubleshooting MSI Installer issues...

There are none related to office/visio but there are hundreds related to MsiInstaller.

It is basically the same few repeating in the application tab, these 3:

Those three are turning up over and over. They are posted in chronological order.

Here are the 3 that turn up again and again in the System tab, though I don't know if they are relevant:

Gonna try updating the MSI installer, for me SP2 is not an option right now. Thanks for the advice!

Update: Tried the suggestions on the page you mentioned, to no avail. Still not done the newer installer though.

Edit: Tried the new installer program and the problem persists :(

Well after going through the rules again, I figure I can mention it as it's not related to obtaining such things:

I'm on a non-legit version of windows, and as I understand it SP2 can 'lock you out' if you install it on such a version.

ARGH! Now when I'm trying to install things I get error messages saying:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

Edit: Reinstalled the installer (guh?) and it seems to be okay for now, don't know about the original problems though.
