that link shows a 256 mb card and no its not a good deal for a 256

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130254

much better deal, same card better than MSI also and if you look around you can probably nail one for cheaper.

If your gonna spend more than $400 dollars grab yourself a x1900xt for $475 after MIR it sqashes the 7800gtx without breaking a sweat

I wouldn't even waste my time with any GTX unless it was <$400. Get the x1900xt no questions asked. If you don't wanna go that high, get a GT... the GTX is definitely a bad buy if you're interested in "bang for your buck"

dang, just saw that... want to look at getting sli 7800gtx 512mb cards for another comp, already getting the x1900xtx for my main comp.

so would sli 7800gt's be better then two 7800gtx's

your nutz man, 7800gt in SLI will match a single x1900xt if you voltmodded them and oc'd them to death on there best day perhaps, a single 7800gtx 512 is slower than a x1900xt and costs $800

just pretend the ATI card says NV on it and your all set.

to me SLI isnt a viable worthy option again IMO when i can have one x1900xt for under $500 well under $500 and i can nail over 13,000 in 05 on air. ...

what SLI

how much more performance am I going to gain in games?

I can play everything now at 1600x1200, this damn card is gonna drain my wallet and make me buy a bigger screen lol

lol ok, i think i get the point... do they have the X1900XTX crossfire edition out yet? two x1900xtx's sounds nice

I don't believe there's going to be an XTX Crossfire edition. The Crossfire card is X1900 and it comes with the 1.2ns memory. Still a good card though and clocks up there with the XT cards.

Plus, can't you OC each card individually?? So it shouldn't matter much.

even if they did, you would be spending a ridiculous amount of cash....one x1900xtx is insane power. anything over 1 is just plain overkill in my opinion especially since is isnt dx10 compatable....will you just throw that 1000 dollars down the drain when vista comes out? just buy 1 if ask me.

personally, I dont think SLi is a good option, unless you have the money to go top of the line now. Reason being that if you get a single 7800gt now, and waited next year to go sli, by that time, lots of single card will rape the dual 7800GT.

That was my plan when i bought the 6800GT. Turns out it is better to just sell the 6800GT and upgrade to a 7800GT for less than $100.

Why don't you just wait a week until the 7900's come out....then the ATI fans will again be crying. And they are SUPPOSED to be priced at $499

But hey...ATI got to be on top for a couple weeks!

I'll let you know how my experiences go with 2 of them :)

nah I doubt I will be crying, I had a 7800gtx and the IQ sucked, the 7900 will be at par performance wise with the x1900 but with crappy IQ :p

easy guys... lets not jump to any conclusions yet.

Lets wait until the 7900 series to be released first. Until then, we won't truely know which card is king. But base on what I'm seeing right now, I got a feeling that ATI will still be king. Until then.... lets wait.....

it's been a long time since I've had/seen an ATI card to comment on the quality but is there really THAT much of a difference to give up performance, price, and the ability of SLI?

I mean...I'm no fanboy either way...I say good for whoever has the better technology out at the time...but Nvidia has been besting ATI pretty well up until this x1900 ...and I'm gonna bet that the 7900 will top it again. I guess we'll wait a week and see :)

SLI isnt a viable option to me personally, I gauge it all on single card performance. I wont ever invest in multi gpu tech until it gives me 2x the performance when I spend 2x the money.
CF is up to par with SLI and it has done so in its infancy, when it has had the time to mature as SLI has then I think it may surpass it.

Either way its personel preference somewhat, the 6800 series in my eyes made the x800/x850's look like crap IQ wise and the peformance was close.

After going from my 7800gtx to x1900xt I could REALLY see an IQ improvement and I was quite surprised as I thought the 7800gtx was MUCH better than the 6800gt's

Guess we'll have to see how the 7900's fare for IQ ...I've heard different things about it...that it isn't a new core....only tweaked ....but it's a 90nm core??? how do they shrink it and have it be the same as before? did they literally just shrink it so they could get extra mhz out of it? And then drop 2x the RAM on it and call it a day?

Arrrg I hate waiting.

Aren't there any sites that have gotten a pair of these so I can see what I'm dealing with?

Or you can always go for 2x6800GS SLI like I did for $350 and I bench close to x1900 ;)

Thats the exact problem I have with SLi. Most of the time, 2 slower cards cost more than the more powerful single card. Also, when it's time to update your system, you have 2 cards that are outdated. I was really looking to get the X1800XT, but it is just out of my budget. I have been thinking over the last 2 weeks with my 7800GT. If its time to update, most probably I won't go SLi. I think I will run into the same issues like this update. Sell the old card for some good money, and get a more powerful one, rather than buying another outdated card to run sli.
