hex editor

i'm looking for a hex editor that will let me save the accuall hex from the thing i open as a text file, and then later be able to reopen it from that text file and convert it into back into the hex that i can save it as what it originally was (plus and changes that where made from when it was a txt file.

i know it sounds kinda odd to want, but i'm experimenting around.

anyone got an idea?

Not 100% sure I understand what you need, but you can try "frhed". That's what I use for editing hex/binary files:

Use "file->export to hexdump" to save it as txt.

that's half of it. now i need one that will import that exported file after i'm done messing with it.

Why not just mess with file in frhed. It's a editor, you can change and save anything you like.
