A good buy for this card? It's only 59$ Canadian here...About 40$ US, and I'm planning on getting a ATI TV WONDER VE, and I heard that for best performance I should get ATI card and ATI card. I'm not a crazy gamer, and my duron 1.15 can handle most games, but I am planning on connecting my vcr up to the vid card, so I can get some movies online, so I want my graphics to be good. The ATI Xpert looks very good for it's price, but what do you guys think of its performance?

Performance wise the Xpert is horrible. But like you said your not a big gamer so it might be perfect for needs.

You can't really find anything much cheaper that'll do your job unless your gonna start looking in the classifieds.

Note to funnyperson: Our msgs prolly got in at the same time. Please rea dmine, so that it refers to the first reply

Ouch, man you just hurt me there....please define, performance wise it blows chunks of ass....

Right now I have a ATI 8 MB RAGE
I have 3 options

a) Buy the Xpert (I thought it was okay)
b) Keep the Rage
c) There is a Geforce 2 MX 32 mb for 10 bucks more then the Xpert, but my cousin says, it's prolly not a pure one. Also, I don't want any conflicts between the Geforce2 and the TV Tuner (No idea who made the Geforce 2, prolly not Powercolor or Nvidia)

I really don't want to go with the 3rd option considering I want to get some money for water cooling also... :(

So wahtchall think?

I've got the Rage Fury Pro VIVO 32meg which, as I understand it, is the same as the 200 pro but with VIVO (video in, video out). I thought it a good buy at the time. Since then a lot of people have posted problems with ATI's Radeon drivers. I myself have had problem with the Rage 128 drivers for my card. The ones that came with the cd work good enough but when I tried to update to new ones from the web site all of a sudden I had an All-in-Wonder 128, according to the detection software at least. And I had a whole bunch of little complaints that stayed even after I de-installed the updates, only a complete system reinstall solved the driver problems. Don't even ask me about the DVD software!!! X100. Thanks for failing to help me time and time again ATI support staff! I currently own, and use a MACH64 2meg, an EXPERT@PLAY98 8meg and my RAGE FURY PRO VIVO 32meg. That will be the last ATI card I buy until ATI proves that they are a completely different company. Still, the 2000 pro might work without causing hideous problems for you.

The card is pretty crappy for gaming. I remember I was looking at it for a third machine.

The Riva TNT2 32 mb is not compatible with the TV Wonder series...

So what should I do?
Keep my Rage 8 mb card, or go out and get the Xpert 32 mb. The Rage is definately slower then the Xpert right?

what did i say to hurt you? if i did im sorry, and im sure i didnt say blow major chink of ***

anywayz.....if you can find a rage fury pro for like 10 dollars more that will be bettter as it has vivio, but the expert 200 was a decent card....you will get a noticeable performance upgrade with the Xpert2000

Heres a list of games i could play without prblems(some i had to downgrade the settings)

Max Payne(dunno the fps)
Unreal Tourney(40-50fps)
Quake 3(35-80fps)

and 9i didnt have any driver problems what soever....oh yeah i thoink the rage fury pro is clocked much faster than the Xpert 2000 at 125/125......so the performance is hihger....

Just for the record my Rage Fury Pro is clocked at 120 core and 72 memory. The most I coud up my memory without problems was 82.

Thanks for the input. Unfortunatley, I thin the Xpert is the only choice I have. The geforce 2 card won't work too well with the TV Tuner (it's not nvidia) and the Rage Pro Fury is about 50 dollars more expensive.

I might get some cooling for the Xpert and see if I can OC it

You might wanna check out ebay.

I've seen Radeons go for as low as $60 CDN.

But really, the card will be better than your Rage. And if heavy gaming isn't your thing, it'll be fine and work great with the TV Tuner.
