I'm looking to move my OS and data from my small SATA drive to my big one. All of the free HDD Clone apps I can find only work with IDE drives (except HDClone which doesn't recognize my PC as having and drives :(). I don't want to spend a bunch on $ on Ghost since I'll probably only use it once, so does anybody know where I can find a free SATA HDD cloning app, or how to get this one (http://www.miray.de/products/sat.hdclone.html) to recognize my drives? Help is much appreciated.

:welcome: to the forums.

have you tried the tools from the hard drive manufacturers themselves?

I'm transfering from WD to Maxxtor, so both apps hate me :(. MaxBlast4 seems to clone it, but upon boot I get an error, and certain functions (like Run->msconfig) do not work.

Ghost 2003 download $4.99. Works like a charm! Works on Firewire, USB, and Networks, too. I don't really like Norton, so I install it on my OS before I am about to do a fresh OS install. I Create the Bootable Floppy from Ghost, and then do my fresh install - so the Norton Crap never actually lives on my system for long at all. Then, when I need Ghost, I simply use the Bootable Floppy.

I doubt I would try any other software from these guys - but my copy of Ghost works perfectly...

Seagate's disk wizard is free and does exactly what you need. It has worked for me on any drive that windows can write to.
