Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.
I re-boot it again and press F8 and use the last known good configuration
and it boots to windows fine.
Shut it down again and rebooted with the same disk boot failure but this
time when I re-booted with the F8 key, it would not work, nothing!
Then I tried a floppy drive boot disk and it won't work with the following
error
"win could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration
problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk
hardware."
To make matters more confusing I booted it this morning and it booted to
windows just fine.
Now I hate to shut it down. Are the floppy and hd controllers on the same
board and is causing this problem?
Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bud Z

Double check the boot order in the BIOS, and make sure the HDD that contains the OS is set either as the first boot device... or the second device, following the Floppy drive (make sure there's no disk in the drive). If that checks out OK, then boot to the Recovery Console and type BootCfg /Rebuild. If after rebuilding the Boot.ini you still have problems booting into Windows, reboot to the Recovery Console and type the following commands hitting ENTER after each...

Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot.ini (If the Attrib command returns a "File not found", don't bother with the following DEL command.)
DEL C:\boot.ini
BootCfg /Rebuild
Exit
