Does Office XP need to be activated even after you enter the CD Key when installing?

Just asking cause there's in option in there to activate. Must be for Win XP or everything is more intergrated and woven together with the XP version of things.

Yes, it has to be activated or it will shut itself down after using it 50 times. It came on my dell laptop, so I have had to do this.:( It sucks, but that's microsoft's new thing, product activation.:(
Edit:
It asked about activation the first time I opened it up. If yours doesn't ask for activation, you must have been lucky and got a corporate version.
