what is the highest i can overclock a p2 450 safely on a gigabyte ga 686bx?

Well look what you can do first..

Open up the bios at the start and then see if you can change anything in there...

If you can't change anything in there look for jumpers on your motherboard..

I'm not too farmiliar with your motherboard but .. :)

Don't bother changing the multiplier because your 450's multiplier is locked..

You should at least be able to get passed 500Mhz with proper cooling(good case ventilation included) and good PC133 ram.

He won't need some kick arse cooling to get to 500 mhz if he can...

The stock can support probably to 600 if it were possible..
