I just finished installing the NV silencer and killed my card.

I had to take the votlage regulator heatsink out and must of chipped one of the little square chips upon installation or removal.

This is the one I chipped:

This sucks big time, just when I get out of the "dangerous" world of watercooling, I go and destroy my perfect card with air cooling.

Just a shot in the dark but does anyone know if those little chips are replaceble?

Thanks all,
Bryan d

I'm not quite sure what you meant by chipped one of em, but you should'nt have to remove the power regulater heatsink to install the NV5. Or am I not getting what your saying? Sorry for your loss man, I've mounted and removed the NV5 so many times and on various cards, guess I'm lucky.

They are replaceable but you need to find someone that does that kind of work, I know people that replaced all sort of chips on cards but you need to find the exact same chip and that might be a problem.

Well I thought I wouldn't have to remove either, but Leadtek put on a beefier heatsink than the reference and it touched the plastic of the silencer so I had to shave it down to fit.

Guess I'll have a look at what chip needs to be replaced, I am little worried that it might be too technical because there are no solder spots on the other side of the card meaning the joint was probably done on the surface only.

Dang me,

Give leadtek a call, Tell that what happened and see if the can give you an idea on the cost to fix. Doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal for them to fix. But of course I could be way off on that.
