View Full Version : Headphone quality? Sennheiser
I was just wondering whether these were a good bang for buck.

Im not looking forward to super good quality. i get that from my z5300e. i was just wondering if these were decent enough headphones that block out sound and provide decent bass for headphones priced at $22.
Im looking forward to buying headphones/headset soon so i would like to know if it was a good deal since the reviews said the bass was horrible but who knows what they were testing them on.
As a side note, i don't like super loud music, soft and medium volumes are what i prefer. So i guess that helps since it seems that on cheaper headphones, sound gets distorted.
Thanks in advance

These headphones beat the z5300e speakers into the ground for $15-25 in terms of sound quality, clarity, crispness, and balance. Sorry to step all over the speakers you have, I really think they're not good at all. The Sennheiser HD201s have all the bass that they're supposed to, it's not heavy emphasized bass but it is heard. People who are used to bloated overpowering bass will think they don't have bass, they don't know what they're talking about. What they lack is some midrange and they need to be driven by an amp either on a soundcard or external otherwise they don't sound good at all.

Ive recently got myself some pc160's(sennheiser) and they are amazing. Id say you cant go wrong with any sennheiser.

Thanks for the heads up.
:( Too bad ive never really listened to quality speakers on loud. can't really compare to anything but all i knew was that the z5300e was sounding better than my 2.1 creative. duh! haha thanks.

Not a suggestion on the specific model but I have a pair of MX150 ear buds and they sound way better then my Zalman headset and they MX150 cost about a fraction of the Zalman and they are ear buds and despite all that they are superb. Just pointing to the Sannhienser quality.

Sennheisers tend to have a really good soundstage which makes them great for gaming and listening. As for the phones you listed, go for it.

I have used these headphones. However, this is coming from a music standpoint.
I agree with everything R4z0r4mu5 Pr|m3 says. They'll give you a spatious laid-back sound.
I'm using an amp and an EMU 0404. An amp for these is a must. Without an amp to power them, they don't sound that great.
Hmm.. I don't have the $$$ currently to go for an AMP.
Are they not loud enough to listen to music?

Any soundcard with opamps would work, such as Creative Live! 24bit, Audigy, Audigy2, M-Audio Revolution, and lots more. The Chaintech AV-710 and E-MU cards don't have amps.
how would i know if they have an opamp?

the amp is on the card itself but isn't easily distinguishable from other components, you can look up info on the card, what card do you have?
