just brought a KG7 RAID/XP 1500+ (1.33G)/Corsair PC2400 DDR. right now, trying to run it "only" at 1.5G (10x150), core 1.85v, DDR 2.8v. tested a couple days.....

now, here's the problem!! it can run Sandra CPU Burning test for 100+ loop w/out any problem at all!! but it would lock up when running SETI (CLC/Spy/Driver). sometimes after 2-3WUs, sometimes "only" 'bout an hrs. temps isn't hot at all! 42-44C when running SETI.

any idea?? is it SETI's problem, or o/c?? do u think if i re-install SETI again, it "might" help to solve the problem? since it can survive Sandra CPU Burn for 100+ loop.

i've set Sandra to run continuesly today before i go to work. and will see if it still running after work. (10hrs+) if so, then it should be the o/c problem, right?

any suggestion?

I am leaning toward the overclocked side. When I tried hitting 500MHz on my Celeron it used to boot up fine, untill Seti@home came up. With seti@home off my computer it would boot just fine. I think that you might need more core voltage to run seti with no problems. This is just a suggestion and I am not completely sure. Try it and see if it helps. Would like to know more about this.

I'm running a KG7 board with a tbird 1.4. Seti would lock up if I pushed the fsb above 146. Right now I am running at 146x10.5 - only until I find the damn clip for my ThermalRight SK6. I have an Alpha Pal 6035 on it right now and at 1.775 vcore - getting temps of 46c. As soon as I mount the SK6, I will try to get it at 150.

But it does sound like your prob is from OC.

Look at the VIA hardware monitor, and look at your 5v rail voltage. If it is below 4.80v you could be having voltage probs and need a better PSU.

tested again, ran "just" 140MHz, and still got BSOD! not did crash the window tho... btw, its a stick of 128MB Corsair PC2400 CAS2 memory brought from PCNut....and i really don't think the problem is the memory....BIOS "only" set at AUTO, no manual nor even turbo/ultra setting....

btw, all voltage is fine. slightly above stock.

a thing i noticed, it seems like SETI locked up or give me BSOD is when it finished up a WU and upload/download from Berkeley....

honestly, i'm not really believe a CPU could do 100+looping of Sandra Burn-in test isn't stable or survive SETI.....

i'll try to fire up 3DMark to see if it could do it.....haven't tried any 3D benchmark yet.....'cos it won't be use to play any game on this machine, so, didn't bother.

now, i just wondering what IF it could do 3DMark, say 3+hrs or even over night, could i call it stable, and concluded the problem is SETI itself, not o/c?? if so, think re-install SETI might help??

I'm running same setup as chawken on one machine. Except multiplier is 11x146 vcore@1.825 and np

Second rig is 1.2 gig bird on Asus a7a266 (I don't like this MOBO)
O/C to 1400 and both run at 45c np
