View Full Version : Nero vs Roxio
Hello,
I'm not looking for a comparaison of the features or simplicity of use, but more how using one or the other will affect the burning... Or using any other software for that matter, will it make a difference ?
And what's with Nero allowing really short Disc Names comparing to Easy Media Creator ?

I don't know about the disc names. I have both and I like roxio because it seems to burn easier than nero and it's automatic updates seem to work better.
I have only used the basic version of Roxio and while it is simple and straight forward just didnt do it for me..
Currently I use Nero 7 Ultra and it has not given me any issues and has a huge selection of options when burning.
As for the short naming, no clue. I generally never name a disk and just print a label or write on the disk..

nero also has a host of codecs and plug-in support. uses less resources than roxio. the only other burner i prefer to nero is alcohol 120%. i still haven't quite figured out all its options but its a simple burner that doesn't tangled in all the red tape.

I prefer nero. I tried the alcohol 120% but seemed really to complicated for me.
I just use nero 6. works fine and get good burns.
I have used both, and while the Roxio is a bit more intuitive the Nero gives more options and works seamlessly with DVD Shrink. I have never used 120% alcohol, but if I did I'd use my 100 proof as a chaser. :D

I love alchohol, not just the drink but alchohol 120% :D
I use both Nero and Alchohol 120%, IMO Roxio is garbage

You guys aren't answering his question ;)
No, if you are using the same burner then the data written to the drive should be pretty much identical no matter what program you use.
The only difference should be if you start getting into more complicated things like over-burning discs.
Thx JCLW, you got the question right :p
I'm not into over-burning or any other fancy/weird stuff, I just want the mors reliable burn that keeps my data safe.
That name length thing is still bugging me though... Maybe a compatibility issue with other OSes ?
