The rise of the "Movie" avatar is here.....
There are several people now using them, and more requesting them.
This is how to make them........
Ulead GIF Animator 5. That's what I'll be referring to during this lil' tutorial. Get it, Use it, Love it......
Let's take.....ROBB23's as an example. This is his current avatar.

Take a close look at it. Movie clips in avatar size should generally be 120*90 pixels in size, if you reduce them so all the image appears in the avatar.
In this case, the vertical size has been stretched to 120 pixels, giving it a "Stretched look"
So reducing the vertical size makes it look more realistic......

Now. Some might agree that that's fine.
Others want it larger.......
(Due to working from a pre-compressed avatar, the quality is not as good as working from the original)
Use a larger size picture.......
This increases the picture depth, but, of course, increases the width.
Using the larger picture, reduce the "Canvas Size" to 120*120 so it shows only a portion of the picture. Normally full depth, but cropped sides. (like a widescreen movie on a normal TV)
Like so......

Man, it took me awhile to do ChuckChippie's. That one required more and more and more and more frames to be removed. It took me almost an hour!
remove every other frame at first. that way you dont make it look to glichy
and i convert everything i do to 10 frames persecond:)

My avatar is an example of cropping the picture to keep from stretching it.
Just in case you wanted an example of that philosophy too. :)
