View Full Version : Corsair ValueSelect 1GB $69 at Fry's; found UCCC chips
THIS IS FREAKING HOT!!! This VS1GB400C3 1gb PC3200 is on sale $69 at Fry's until tomorrow. My friend bought one and he asked me to test it for him. Guess what, the chips use Samung UCCC. So I removed my 2x1GB OCZ Extreme PC4000 (running at 263 Mhz stable which I bought for $180 this week) to test the corsair value. It was memtest+ stable at 270Mhz at 3-4-4-8 matching my OCZ. So I run to Fry's and bought two sticks got both have UCCC. Wahooo! Better deal than my OCZ and much cheaper than the Corsair XMS series which uses the same UCCC, newegg sells 2GB kit for $217. I am guessing the 2GB XMS PC4000 series comes from the batch as the value series, corsair just picked the UCCC ones and tested them to run at 250 Mhz and slapped heatsiknks.
I might go back and empty Fry's supply. Good Luck hunting for these infamous UCCC chips, they are the best 1GB overclocking chips. TCCD are the best 512MB overclocking chips.
Can you link us to it, or was it only at your LOCAL fry's...
I'm assuming this:

You never know, though... you can't guarantee that everyone will get UCCC. I have a feeling it was luck of the draw. I'm afraid to take a chance.

You are better off buying at local store if you have one, you can return it if it is not UCCC.
That's the beauty of buying it at local Fry's store. You can return them if you dont get the right chips. I guess it's by batches. The 3 sticks so far are all UCCCC.
Also, you also risk not getting UCCC when you RMA it so be careful with this stick.

yeba i'm looking for a 2x1gb myself, how do you know they are uccc? is there a code on them? i close to a fry's myself, if anybody wants some of this let me know :)
You will see the Samsung label on the chips and you should see a -UCCC at then end of the chip markings.
Good Luck. I'll post my overclocking results later.

Man that is AWSOME!!!! I wish there was a Fry's near here. I am so deprived.
Testing Results :
2x1GB G.Skill Extreme PC4000 UCCC VS 2x1GB Cosair VS UCCC
CAS 3-4-4-8 at 2.65 V on Abit IC7-G P4 3.0E 1:1 CPU:MEM
G.Skill = max stable dual channel 263 Mhz
Corsair VS = max stable dual channel 270 Mhz
LOL! The Corsair beats my expensive G.Skill. But who knows, it might be my setup. My IC7/P4 3.0E tops out at 270 Mhz 1:1. Cant go any further without risking burning my P4, max vcore is 1.5V, i am too scared to apply more than 1.5V. I wish I had an A64 system so I can test if these modules can hit 300 Mhz. Makes me want to buy an a64 at Frys just one block away from me.
The PCB boards are different. My G.Skill PCB ID starts with 'B', corsair starts with 'D'. GO figure. Batch number on the Samsung ICC chips is 546 if that matters.

shoot, i really wanted to mushkin xtreme performance here for $159.99 after rebate from fry's as well - http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4775619?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
problem is they only sell them online and not instore.
are these uccc chips good at taking some voltage? would voltage give better timings?
I got them from Sacramento. Hey, dont buy all of them. I am going back tonight to try my luck again.
Based on what I read from forums, Samsung UCCCs dont like high voltage and they wont overlock higher even if you apply more voltage. I like it that way, I dont like memory that needs more than 2.8V just to overclock.
yeba, you tried 3-4-4-8 at 270... can you do 3-4-3-8?? just curious...
Nope. Unstable at those settings.

guys, i went to the fry's in industry, ca. they have a display case for cpu's and memory. they are infact uccc's. at the end of the chip like yeba stated it has uccc at the end of the code.
i didn't buy any cause i wen't to pick up some other stuff. i really want the mushkin extreme pc4000 fry's has for sale but if i can't find a way to get any. i will opt for these cs "value" sticks.

Thanks yeba for letting us know about this.
My friend and I got a pair at the so cal anaheim fry’s. my max in dual channel is 1:1 at 250 FSB 3-3-3-8 2.65v. not bad for value ram.
I also got an IC7-G board paired with a P4 2.4C 30caps @ 3.6GHz. 300FSB, but it would not run 5:4 (240FSB), even at the looses timing and highest volts available (3-4-4-8 2.8v). It would POST then try to load window, but reset at 2.65v. It do not POST at all with 2.8v…these ram do not like volts I guess.
Previously: PQI Turbo 4x256MB 3:2 200MHz 2-2-2-5 2.7v Sandra memory test ~ 5700MB/s
Now: Corsair Value Select 2x1GB 3:2 200MHz 3-3-3-8 2.65v Sandra memory test ~ 5500MB/s
So now I have another 1GB, 2 empty slots and a lower score, but so far it’s worth it for me.
2GB of memory is well worth it. Diff of 200MB/s is not very significant. Try playing battlefield2 or FEAR, all my games play smooth as silk.
IC7 dont like memory dividers. Have you tried running 1:1 and find out the maximum speed of the chip.? You should be able to find out the max speed of the UCCC since your cpu can handle 300 FSB. I want to know if these modules can hit more than 275 Mhz but then again, your IC7 might reach its limit also at 1:1 . Let us know. Thanks.
My sandra memory benchmark at 270 Mhz 1:1 is around 6500 MB/s.

wow, i bought my corsair valueselect (2x1gb) from newegg awhile back and i didnt get that good of a price. I think i got both sticks for a total of like $156.00 or something like that. plus, i didnt know this stuff ocs so well!
I went back to Frys to buy 4 more sticks. I got two sets:
1. both batch 546
2. one is 543 , other one is 546
Good news is all the sticks can pass 270 Mhz 3-4-4-8 single channel.
Bad news, not all sticks are created equal. The first set was not dual channel stable at 270 Mhz. Second set was also not stable at 270 Mhz.
So I mix n match and found two that run dual channel smoothly at 270 Mhz. I guess there is a reason why you pay extra for dual channel kits, it ensures they run stably at rated speed.
Well, 2 sticks are going back to Frys. Hopefully, the price of these sticks continue to drop.

yeba,
thanks to you there's alot of happy employees at fry's. i went back today and they had over 50 sticks of this corsair, i let one of the guys in the "computer component" section about these being uccc and he took a pair for himself and told his other co-workers about it. he didn't believe it at first but when he looked at one stick then he looked at all the stics they had in inventory, all were uccc's.
i did'nt get a set after all, i went for the ocz gold pc4000 xtx with the $40 rebate instead. i would have preferred the mushkin xtreme performance pc4000 but that was only online. the ocz above the had at the store.
also, la area frys have an x2 3800+ and mobo for $279, i think this is an awesome deal too.
remember guys today is the last day for these sales.

That's good, as long as you did not spread it to my area. I dont want want the 73 sticks at my Frys depleted before the they drop the price again.
I am now selling my G.Skill in ebay, boy, there a lot of interested buyers on this one.

check tomorrow, frys sale items end today. call tomorrow and if its the same price then get some :)
i'm second thinking this ocz kit i just bought, the people at the fry's near me seem pretty cool, if i go back for a kit i'll have them pull some "546's" for me :)
What's the non sale price on these? Are these good OC'ers for the Pentium guys or the AMD guys? Just got a Opty 165 and looking to maybe change my memory out.
My two sets are all 546. I got one 543 and it ran at 270 Mhz. Also make sure they are stable at dual channel. One set was both 546 but not dual channel stable.

What are the chances of getting these chips through online order? Probably low. :eh?:

Anyone help me out with this? Curious if this memory will serve me well with the Opty or if I should go for something else? I need to go over to Fry's later today anyway so was going to check out some memory while there.
Hey Beginner! Yer mailbox is full! ;) I'd love two of these sticks if they're UCCC/546.
What is the voltage rating on these?

When you do get em for someone, you may have to post it in classies... just make sure you read the rules b/c they're not happy with sales outside classies. I know, I know... even if it's just a favor. :D
I still haven't gotten to that NF7!! :( I have an opteron 165 and an opteron 146 yet to test... I just can never have time for all of my parts! :(
I went to Fry's yesterday and got 2gb of these. The matched pairs are $189 and the single sticks are $99. The ones I looked at all had UCCC chips too with dates of either 546 or 543.
Wow it's $189 now? Probably better off getting branded UCCC...

CAN ANYONE pick me up a pair or sale me a pair? I have verified paypal and a confirmed address and 89+ heatware!!!
If anyone is interested, please PM me a price and maybe we can work something out...please????? :(

guys, its $99.99 at the fry's now. it was 69.99 a couple of days ago. i was going to purchase 2 - 2x1gb kits for some members here but the price went way up. i think branded uccc is a better choice.
It is on sale again at Fry's for $69.99. I purchased two. One was Samsung K4H510838C-UCCC, 546 and the other was Corsair which I returned. Is there any way I can specifically request for Samsung? Sales rep told me that he does not have any optionton to select.

guys ----iceage/starfoxer,
i will attempt to get you guys some memory, my local frys(city of industry) is selling them for $99.99 a stick now. if i find another store with them for $69.99 i will pick them up for you.
I purchased one more from Fountain Valley store this morning, but it had Corsair chip on it. So far, I have purchased 3 memory chips, but only one had Samsung Chip on it. I'm guessing Fry's ran out of memory made by Samsung. Does Fry's accept a return purchased from other stores?
