Not bad for that resolution, now if we can just see what it can do at the default.

what is the real price of the 7900GT, if it really is 299$ as was reported at x-bit 2 weeks ago then those are excellent cards. Should OC great as well considering same cores.

I sure hope that 299 price on the gt is correct. Im still within the 90 days for the trade up program. I paid 260 for my 7800gt. Gotta go for it! :)

Im glad i held onto my 9800 pro and bought the asrock pci-e/agp board. Id get hardcore withdrawals if i had to go a week w/o pwnage.

Chances are EVGA will charge$450 plus for it. Go to their website and look at the price for a 7800gt. Madness.

If the 7900GT will be 299$ where does that put the 7800GT?

I do not believe for a second that the 7900GT will sell for $299. It just makes no sense. To expect such a price will leave a lot of people very disappointed.

GeForce 7900GTX 512MB
650mhz core clock, 1600MHz memory clock
3dmark 03: 17800
3dmark 05: 7600
3dmark 06: 5200

Er...am I reading this correctly? My 7800GTX has a 3DMark05 of 9000... Can the o/c make such a difference?

not only just o/c. They test it at a higher resolution.

Yea everyone they are at 1280x1024, but that kinda upsets me because im not familiar with those scores as i am 1024x768 which most people test at.

But 3Dmark 06 is already using a res of 1280*1024.

^^^Yeah, but standard 3dm's previous to '06 run at 1024. That's what everyone is used to.

the benchmark is bullshat in any event. See the other thread for why. Simply put, my card at incomparable clock speeds (much slower) and stock driver settings @ 1280x1024 pumps out 8.8k bogomark 5, which is over 1200 points over the supposed 'g71' benchmark scores. I'm flying the flag on this one, sorry.

easy everyone, lets just wait for the card to be released... which is tomorrow...

i'm sure some of us in this forum will get the card. Then we can truely get a benchmark result.

Sorry, I have two of em in my one rig, honestly I don't think they will bench THAT much better. It's a die shrink and clock gain, so it's practically a super overclocked 7800, not like its actually new technology here, I think I'm passing for the next gerneration(i always love star trek).

On the note of 3dmark scores....keep in mind that scores vary with more than just the video card...comparing scores from two computers with different specs (not including video cards) is basically pointless for comparing the performance of the video cards alone.

...this may also explain why they said "For reference, 3dmark06 on a similar system scores approximately 4700 for a GeForce 7800GTX 512MB running at stock speeds."

frankly, I don't feel that bad with my 7800GTX. Sure it's always great to have the latest, but it seems the difference between 7800 and 7900 won't be all that great.
I'm keeping my testicles kenshiro :)
