Wow, again?? These prices are like the pre-"Oh, AMD is going to raise prices on all Opty's" month, which was 1 1/2 months ago.
I picked up a 146 even though I don't need it. It's cheap enough to play with. :)
the 146 coupon is for the OEM version just so you guys know, I bought one too just because I want to see what it can do :)
I would like to get 3gHz if possible, but we'll see

I don't think any of these are for Retail. I know the 170 isn't.
They're all for OEM...

Click the links if you want, it'll say OEM in the title bar even before the page loads.

Hopefully my 165 ships today.
I think I'm getting my 165 today... for some reason monarch always ships my stuff out right away, and 2day fedex when I asked for ground. Maybe it's cuz I buy a CPU from them every several weeks, lol. :D

I jumped on the 146 when I saw $60 off :). I am hoping to pass my 144 which is at 2750mhz prime stable.
I dont want to sound dumb, but how do you use these coupon codes. Where do enter them in to get the discount?

After you have logged in, during the checkout process.
Quit tempting me!!!! I really want an Operon 170 but if I get that, I need basically a new everthing. Great deals though.

glad i got my 170 from monarch @ $350 few months ago when apparantly no one else noticed. this baby is still valuable! =)
Since these are OEM, what would be a good HSF for the Opty 165? I was going to get the retail Opty 165 at NewEgg for $330 (which I understand has pretty a pretty good stock HSF), but I could save about $20 if you guys can recommend a good HSF for less than $30...

The stock heatsink is pretty good. You can find a few being sold in the classifieds here or you can check ebay for them.
If you want the best, then Scythe Ninja is the way to go.

I'd be all over that 146 if it were retail :(
In all honesty, I don't really see the need of retail if you don't need the stock heatsink. Are you afraid that the chip will die? Chips only BURN OUT from excess voltage, or because of high temperatures. What do you need retail for? Monarch gives a free 60day warranty on OEM...

the need for retail in this case is that the retail is 12 dollars LESS than the oem for the 165
But with the coupon code, the OEM is $48 less... is the coupon not working now?

does anybody *KNOW* if any of the dual core's will not be cold-bug-bait under my (stock) MachII?
(evap idles @ -56c to -60c on FX-57 @ 1.63v...CPU (idle) @ -22c to -18c)

Most do unfortunatly. My suggestion would be to get maybe 5 of 'em from different sources, then testing them individually.
If you have an account at extremeoverclocking.com, here (http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showpost.php?p=2130927&postcount=12) is Dynasty on GT/R507/Baker... dunno exactly what that is, but I know it's sub-zero...

thanks guys... i cant bank-roll a FX-60 or 5+ CPU's...
i just picked up a 3800 x2 (LDBHE 0601 UPMW) from Tankguys that is supposedly "COLD-friendly"
going for #1 in 3D-'06 (single card)
Going for #1 with a 3800? Wouldn't you be better with an opteron dual?

not if it's cold-bugged and cant boot under the MachII :(

Damn it, these don't work for the pre-tested combos. :( Would have smacked the 170 down to $300ish. Oh well, I can wait.

I just like the 3-year warranty, should anything happen, even though I proly wouldnt overclock it much or at all.

warranty = void as soon as you overclock and/or remove the IHS.
warranty= void as soon as you use another cooler aside from AMD's actually

Warranty = void if you do anything LOL.
warranty is void if you buy it...
I was about to RMA a 2500+ barton a long while back and AMD didn't seem like they had a bad RMA policy. I only had to send the cpu...they wouldn't know anything.
Jared
dang, is there another coupon out there?
