TigerDirect isn't very trustworthy, mostly in their customer support part of them...I wouldn't buy from them.

I (and I think many) have doubts about that.

I may jump on this...TD honors rebates if you don't get them back. I always get my rebates back anyways, because I stay on top of them and call the rebate center. Make copies of the rebate info and your golden.

I've been using this router for quite a while now and not a single bit of trouble. Range on the wireless is pretty good too, above average compared to a equivalent Linksys my friend had.

I'd love to make my computer have wireless internet, but after trying a linksys wireless router...I lost like 3 Mbps on my connection by doing so. I used g components as well...no good. Is this normal to lose internet speed to those extremes? I have the cable wire running from one side of the room to the next and it looks pretty stupid.

Wired LAN is 100Mbps, while standard wireless "G" is 54Mbps. Between networked computers you lose a lot more than just 3mb/s. Although 100Mbps is ideal text book bandwidth, you should still be getting much more than 57Mbps on a wired connection.

As far as your high speed service is concerned, it shouldn't make a difference since most only allow for about 6mb/s maximum downloads. Sounds like you have other issues going on if that 3mb/s drop is your high speed bandwidth.

Well I don't want a wireless network for networking computers. I just want it so I can leave my cable modem and router by the wall where the cable comes out. This way I don't have to run the cable for the internet around the walls. Maybe the Linksys WRT51G just sucks. I tried a couple different wireless NICs and same thing happened. I plugged into the router with a wire and my internet went back to normal. I wonder if I should bite on this deal...free is free. Rebates suck, but as long as I get them I will be happy.

FWIW I started having problems with this router dropping on me yesterday. I flashed a firmware update and will check back if it helps or not. unsure whether I would recommend this after only a year of use...

I've had this router for around a year, and although it holds a connection pretty well, it's a total pain to work with when trying to setup things like port forwarding. Considering the troubles I've had with it, I would avoid it, but it's decent enough if you just need a basic router.
