Just read a couple reviews on Newegg and I see that people are saying the Plat Rev2 sticks are TCCD again. This is probably way old news... but, if someone can confirm this to me that would be great.

I believe they are TCCD now. TCC5 are just as good though; mine do DDR600.

I already own two sets of TCC5 and two sets of TCCD. My Patriot TCCD binned @DDR600 will do just that... but both sets of my TCC5 have only done 260Mhz(OCZ Plat Rev2) & 270Mhz(Mushkin XP3200) @ 2.5-4-4-8 on my Ultra-D. The second set of TCCD are Corsair XLPro modules on the reference pcb... I haven't run them on anything better than an nF2.
Needless to say, I like the idea of true TCCD instead of TCC5 b/c if I purchase these sticks... it will be for an nF4 setup. Also to that point... these would be going into a build for a buddy of mine who is a HUGE gamer.... is the general consensus that 2GB is that much better? I personally don't game that much and have no need for 2GB yet.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. From what I've seen TCC5 does just as well as TCCD. Just a different revision.

Steve,
It is my understanding that you can distinguish between the TCCD and TCC5 modules as follows:
Original Rev 2 with TCCD had no "ver #" on the paper label affixed to the heatspreader.
"Ver 1.1" was added when the change was made to TCC5. The version number was in tiny, tiny letters just to the right of the "2-2-2-5" timings on the paper label.
With the return to TCCD, the version number changed to "ver 1.0".
Can you confirm whether or not my understanding is correct?

The platinum revision 2s have been using tccd for some time now according to oczsteve. I think it was due to a shortage of tccd that made them go to tcc5. I may be wrong...

That's correct. The ver 1.1's are TCC5 and ver 1.0 are TCCD
You have no chance of getting TCC5 right now as we shopped using them months ago when we went back to TCCD
