I just began work on SETI with the BOINC client. But for some reason when I begin work on a project and then open the graphical display, my screen goes black. The computer appears to continue running, but the display just dies. What could be causing this?

Firstly, :welcome: to the forums, and :welcome: to the team :D.. which graph are you talking about? im assuming its the one when you go under Work > Show Graphics, if so the problem could be video card drivers. There was a lot of annoyance going around a while back with ATi's video card drivers playing up with the graphics of BOINC, but they fixed it with the current version. However, just give it a shot and see how you go.

If you mean the graphs as in the graphs that show your RAC, TC, HTC and HRAC under the Statistics tab, then.. err I honestly have no idea, id doubt that could cause any problems :P let us know how you get on!

I mean the graphics under the work tab, the first one you described. I have a Sapphire x800gto. I have the latest version of catalyst drivers, but I run ATItool .24.

edit: thanks, I figure, I put so much effort in to making my computer run fast, I may as well use it for something :p

edit2: Now I can't connect to SETI. It keeps saying "can't connect to BOINC client" But I just had it working this morning.

The disconnected issue means that the BOINC manager is not able to talk to the BOINC daemon. The usual fix is to wait a minute or two and then go to File -> Select computer, then type in "localhost" and your password. If you have not setup a password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg, the boinc client set a random password. So you can not connect with the boinc manager to the client. You have to enter your password into this file, followed by a return. The file should be in the Boinc dir, you can edit it with a notepad.

And BTW :welcome: to the team.
