I have been having some problems with vertical striping recently. For example while I was posting this message the grey areas of the screen had a faint medium blue stripe in some sections and the white area exhibited some yellow striping. The striping sometimes flickers when I scroll the screen up or down. I have not added any new hardware components recently. The problem seems to have started since installing Quake 3 - Arena, although I am not sure it was caused by this. I have made numerous changes since then trying to get rid of this problem without any luck. I am hoping someone has seen this problem before and has some idea what is causing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its a difficult one. how is your monitor driver and video card one? besides that it really looks like a hardware problem for me, cant you try installing your monitor in another machine? is your video card overclocked?
after youre sure the proper monitor driver is isntalled take a look at the vert sync setting and test it with someones. thats all i can think for now. good luck.

My first reccomendation would be to hook your monitor up to someone else's machine to see if the monitor is actually suffering hardware problems.

Also, check to be sure your video settings are what they should be. I presume you would have noticed if your resolution where changed. Check your refresh rate and color depth. Oh, and do double-check to make sure your monitor cable's plugs are clean and properly connected.

If that isn't the problem, try reinstalling your video card drivers, as the QIII install might have changed something.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
