I know lower temps, but I'm concerned about damage, junk hanging out all over my case... What are some of your experiences with watercooling compared to regular air cooling?

watercooling is alot more work
you have to look after it, and invest alot of time learning the ins and outs of watercooling. I think it can be a great project and is alot of fun to have a watercooler....
plus the looks on peoples faces when they see this thing in your computer...
then when you tell them water is cooling it.... are they ever shocked.
Water cooling is not for everyone. If you are thinking about trying watercooling, you should read everything about it that you can.

yeh water cooling is definitely a subject for your friends and relatives to talk about when they see all that strangeness on your case. Mine looks like it's on a respirator with the clear tubes coming out the back , across the floor to a 5 gallon bucket. People that come over definitely think i'm strange putting water in my computer to cool it.
Back to the subject though. Water cooling allowed me to clock higher due to the lowered temperatures especially when TEC's are used. As for junk hanging over most people tend to make their computer nice and neat and attractive some what with their setups. Air is safer but if you were playing it safe you wouldn't be overclocking anyways. With waterblocks today and the information given out on these sites you can make a very safe watercooling system.
Besides the cooling benefits, putting the cooler together is a lot of fun in it's self. If you DIY or buy one, consider how much room you have to work with, and keep in mind the height your water will have to travel, as this will be a factor in choosing a pump.
If you DIY- home depot will have some of the things you'll need, but DON'T buy a pump there, they are incredibly overpriced. You can use a heater core from a car as a radiator, just go to the local car junkyard.
