View Full Version : weird problem
I got SuSE 7.3 last night and tried to install it. Yast2 coped fine at 1024x768 and I managed to set it all up. I never have had a problem with that part. The problems started when I tried to install the packages. I tried about 3 times w/ different filesystems. Still no luck. Random packages failed.
Hmm... broken dependencies? You're not being terribly specific here.
Suse uses rpm now, doesn't it?

Is choosing packages one by one really necessary? It was with SuSE 6.0 and 6.2--but only because I didn't like any of the default options. Choosing packages by hand needed about five hours, at least for me.
Isn't necessary in SuSE 7.0, but I have the "Home" version.

I had a problem installing on a system once would get thought to installing packages and would have random problem installing packages and the install failed.
Turns out I had some heat problems and the system that was fine under windows98. I dropped the CD-Rom down a slot and added a HD Cooler to exhaust the hot are at the top of the case.
I have not had any problems with the system sense.
Found the problem - bad memory. My 256MB stick is bad, but my 128 one is OK. Beacause SuSE7.3 needs to run rpm from a ramdisk b4 it can install my copy of RPM, bad memory caused havoc. Its installed now and I love it. Have to get that 256 stick replaced tho
