Obviously, I can right click on a picture file (jpg, bmp, etc), but I want ACDSee to be the default viewer. If I double click on a picture file, that inefficient program "Fax and Picture viewer" starts up. How can I remove that program so that ACDSee is the default viewer?
(I've tried reinstalling ACDSee to reassociate picture files with it, but it didn't work.)

Click on the picture or file to highlight it.
Hold down the shift key and right click the picture.
The pop-up box now contains the option to "open with"
pick that option and choose ACDSee as the program to open it with.
If you check the box to "always use the selected program to open this type of file", ACDSee will now be the default viewer.
Voila!!

That doesn't work, ACDSee is, and has been the program associated with jpgs and GIFs and what not.
The problem is the "Preview" feature in Windows XP, observe that "Preview" is in bold in this menu, meaning it will be the action if you double-click that file.
I want ACDSee to open when I double-click a picture file, not Windows' "Preview" feature.
As of now, I have to right click a file, then select "View with ACDSee" to view it with ACDSee.
