VIRUS!!!

I've gotten a virus, its a low-prfile one(that what Mcafee says anyway), but I can't get rid of it. Told me to run Stinger; don't think it found it. Won't let me do a restore, comes up with an error. Trying my best not to reformat my harddrive. Isn't there a way through DOS to do a restore??? I've done it before but can't remember how.. Or is there something else I can do??? Do you need the name of the virus???

You will need the virus name to remove it. If you can't identify it, do an online scan to find it.

Check out Symantec's website, search for the virus there. they may have a removal tool or instructions on how to do a manual removal.

Some virus fixes require you to turn off Sys Restore to get rid of it.

what's it called, just FYI, DAT 4715 gives a false positive for essential windows files, and removing them will ruin windows. http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_138884.htm

yeah you gonna need to know the name and once you have that if you want to remove it from dos you gonna have to use a tool that reads NTFS partions.
