6600GT AGP Unlocking?

I've been reading a bit about people unlocking pipes in their video cards. What exactly happens? What does it do to the card? Is the 6600GT AGP unlockable? I need more information :D Thanks!

The 6600GT GPU only comes with 8 pipes, there is no hidden pipes to unlock. The only cards that can unlock the extra pipes has a GPU that has extra pipes (and the pipes are hidden).
