apollo isnt a good brand, if you go with the kyroII i suggest you get the Hecules one which should only be a couple dollars more.....but for your uses i suggest the radeon 32mbDDR, both are good cards but the radeon has better dvd and 2D......in 3D apps theyre about the same, really depends on whats cheaper....

If you are at all concerned about budget, then the Kyro II by Hercules is by far the best card out there in terms of price and performance. You can get one at Newegg.com for $77! It's no GeForce 3, but they beat out a bunch of GeForce 2's! I've been very satisfied with the card, except when I try to play Max Payne at 1600X1200 using Anisotropic filtering, 32 bit color, max details, and triple screen buffers, then it gets a little laggy. But for other games like Counterstrike, I can play at maxed everything with perfect smoothness.

With a voltage mod (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31679&highlight=Kyro+Voltage+Mod), a Kyro 2 is a formidable, affordable card. As mentioned above, if you're on a budget, the card is a steal. I own a Hercules card and have been very happy with it. One cavaet though...The card does not have a hardware based T&L (Transform and Lighting) unit.
What this means is that the card relys much more on your processor to perform software T&L duties. I think a safe mark would be about 800MHz and up. The faster the better. I run mine on a Duron 750 @ 1000 and get solid, 30fps+ frame rates in most common games @ 1024x768 resolution.
Good luck with your final decision.

unfortunatley being located in australia
i do not get the same kind of competition as you do in the states
so online vendors are also out
I'll have to look around to see if i can find a hercules
i know theyre a good brand
otherwise ill end up going with another Geforce 2MX
or GTS if i have the cash
Australia? then you should check out
www.dansdata.com
He's also australian, his page has links to the only decently priced computer store in Aus(apparently) and he has a kick-butt review of the Hercules Kyro2 in there also.
I have personally have seen a Kyro2 beat a GF2 Ultra in certain benchmarks. Kyros just totally rock!
