Hi all

What can a 1.4 Gig athlon get clocked to??

I seem to have my system hang if I raise the multiplier above 11.5, and the highest I have taken the fsb is 140

As you can tell, I am really new to this and do'nt have much of a clue.

So absolutely any ideas and suggestions will be much appreciated

Also, what is the highest temps these amd's should be running at???

Thanx

Temps generally should be kept under 50ºC under full load at all times. As far as how much you can get out of it...most end up with somewhere between 1.5GHz and 1.7GHz. Other components depend on this as well if using the system bus.

My 1.4 does 1.66GHz on 166MHz bus and is stable as a rock at no more than 48ºC under load.

Maybe visit the CPU database on the opening page of OverClockers.com.

Welcome to the forums! You can go HERE (http://overclockers.cssftware.com/cpudb/index.cfm) to see what kinds of speeds others are getting with you CPU, and check out the Beginners' Guides (http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index20.asp#OVERCLOCKING EXPERIENCES AND TIPS) for an overview of basic methods. Then, if you have any questions you can come back here and one of the experts will help you! Again, welcome!

Sometimes the chip will hold you back. (stepping) You might want to look for a volt mod for your mobo. (if they have one)

thanks for all of the replies peeps

Its just trial and error I suppose

Does anyone know how much the power supply can affect the cpu so far as hanging the system is concerned???

Just remember, You can never have to much power! It just depends on how many watts your p/s is and the chip run.
