Hi all!
I'm gonna buy me a new mobo (Abit ST6) and a Celeron 1200.
Now I wanna do some serious overclocking so I'm thinking about using a 80W Peltier. I will be cooled by my ThermalRight SK6 with an Delta38 fan.
What do you guys think about this? Will the cooling be enough for the 80W Peltier?
I know the SK6/Delta38 will get me far just by this, but a Peltier should do more I guess....
Let me know what you think!
thnx in advance
You'll really have to be worried about condensation..
If you were to get a 72 watt peltier why not get some water cooling?
I think you'll need more watt's on that peltier ...

As was mentioned in a couple of other threads, the best motherboard for OCing Tualatins seems to be the Iwill BD133u because no need to mod to adjust vcore to the max. ST6 limits you to 1.6v with Tualatin procs...

i suggest you go with the Bd133U by Iwill the voltage is adjustable from 1-1.85 and the FSB can go from 65-200 in mhz increments....
I never knew iWill had such crazy boards for that many processors hehehehehehe
Problem is what the hell is the cost for that thing :)

The Iwill may be very nice, but not for sale here in The Netherlands yet :-(
That's why I chose the Abit ST6 so far...
About condensation: I'm gonna buy some good protection for that :-) Have some experience with Peltier in the past.
About watercooling: very nice, but out of my league as of yet. I think my next complete new systeme will have watercooling inclusing a Peltier or two.
But the main question still is: Will the SK6/Delta38 combo be sufficient too cool the 80W Peltier? Will it be able to suck the air out enough?
I think it just may be right... Not too positive though.

I think that the heat load will be a bit too much for a SK6 and pelt. The only hsf that I can think of that might stand a chance of working is that new Kanie type W(I think) that you can mount 2-38 cfm delta's on( the noise). The only other option I can think of is watercooling and pelt because of the heat load that you'll be putting on it. If you overclock that celeron to 1600 at 1.75 volts vcore, you will still only have a heat load of 36 watts, so I think that an 80 watt pelt should do OK. You are still talking about a heat load in excess of 100 watts total to handle and I don't know of a hsf combo that will reliably do that and mount on a socket 370 motherboard

Yes I dont think the single 38cfm fan will do the job.

Do you guys think cooling with just the SK6/Delta38 will get me high? Like 1600?

freshy, hi
Yes i think so. =)
Ol'man has managed to run his 1.2 T-Celery@ 1600 with some Stock HSF (insufficient cooling) but with IHS off. Without having IHS allows the temp to transfer with less resistence. IHS isn't there to allow you overclock higher. So, assuming you have the IHS on and with superb cooling(SK-6 w/Delta), yes it is superb cooling and it is the best. Kicks Gladiator, Glaciator, Alpha, Tysol, out of the way. 100% pure copper and super thin fins.. that's why I like it :p So yeah I don't see why you can't reach 1600mhz with SK-6 perferably Delta38cfm or higher and if your mobo offers enough of voltage to run it at 1600. =)

hehe that's very kewl! also safes me some 300 guilders or so.
only problem so far is that the Iwill BD133U isn't for sale yet in The Netherlands. If someone knows where to get it in Europe (EU) please tell me!!! ;-)
Probably you'll be able to reach 1.5ghz with air cooling...

I was also thinking now, that since I won;t buy a Peltier and sepperate PSU I might be able get myself a P3 1.26GHz T-mine.
Depends a bit on the price offcourse :-)
Anyone having experience with them?

With the wire trick on the st6 and the celery I would say you chances of getting to 1600MHz are pretty good without the pelt. THese chips need about in my experience ~1.8v. I think that is the max the wire trick will give ya with your board unless you do like I did and got rid of one of the cpu pins. I didn't do it on purpose but I most likely wouldn't have hit 1600MHz if I wouldn't have done it:D I need every bit of the 1.84 volts it shows in asus probe! No matter what though get the SK6. The tualatin exposed core and that HS are a match made in heaven! The pal isn't bad with this core either but that SK6 would be ideal.

oh.. yeahh 512kb L2 bangers.. good idea, Freshy98 ;) Their cost isn't much different than the T-Celerons 1.2Ghz.
Those P3 Tualatin 512k 1.266Ghz have a 9.5x multiplier.. and i believe they'll overclock very well although may not OC as high as the 1.2 T-Celerons could go.. Unlike the 1.2 T-Celerons, P3 Tualatin 1.266Ghz run on a 133mhz bus so mhz wise you might not be able to reach the top OC like the Celerons but you'll benefit from the powerful system bus speed and great handful amount of L2 cache.
The CPU itself isn't stranined as much. You should be easily able to run 1425 first attempt with some good RAM. I wouldn't be surprised you reaching 160+ fsb with that thing. Your memory score would be very good also. This is my opinion cauze I don't own one but this sound very logical. TC has got one.. Hopefully he'll help u out. =))

The cost isn't much different??????????
The cheapest I could find a 1.26 512k cache tualatin was for $325. I got my celery for $115. In essence the 1.26 is about three times as much.

Oops.... .. I must have mis-read the pricing on the Pricewatch.com but wait!!.. I don't see the T-Celerons costing $115 range in the pricewatch... where are they?? Did u get it somewhere else? reply pls...

well?.. Ol'man are you gonna share with us where u got the 1.2 T-Celeron and at that price?? I just simply cannot find it in pricewatch.com.

go to the search bar and type in 1.2 Celeron and you will find all of three stores selling it prices range from 112-130.....
Dang thats still pretty expensive hehe

well, a T-mine 1.26GHz may be very expensive but maybe at the HCC days (a very big fair in Holland which takes place every year at the end of november) it maybe a bit cheaper. cheap enough to but anyways ;)
about the memory. I have a stick of Corsair 256MB PC150 CAS2, so that should work great :D I'm thinking of getting another stick.
