hey guys...
I finally broke my OC cherry... :tounge2:
I got my GFD for my Slot A today...
before I had it, I OCed via FSB,
I got 6.5x100 to 6.5x108=702 completly stable, it would do 110 but not solid.... all at 1.6 volts
now with the multiplier and voltage are unlocked...
I hit 8x100=800 @1.85 volts, and slowed the L2 cache to 2/5
funny thing is that there's a .05 volt diff between the CPU and the mobo, always has been, so when I set it to 1.85 it reports as 1.9 on all diagnostics...
not that I care too much..
but see now my FSB can only goto 102 mhz b4 things start goin funny....
so i get about 816
as u overclock more does the FSB become more "sensitive"
or does the CPU need more voltage to operate that extra 20mhz even tho it's fsb boosted and not multiplier?'
I tried slowing the ram to CAS 3, made no dif,
I'm using aircooling, got a thermaltake Golden orb, with the ran reversed so it sucks the air through the fins and out,
a 120mm slammin air at the back side of the cpu and the hsf, and a 92 next to it suckin the hot air out...
and I've got the enermax 350w, drawing the air up from the cpu as well,
my mobo is a MSI K7 pro and I highly doubt it has on cpu thermal probe, but the temps read 31-32 cpu and 28-29 chasis...
so I dunno if heats what's causing probs, undervoltage, or if my cpu's just reaching the end of it's OC limit?
