Hi again ... thanks again .. but yodum .. i must say that i wanted to know that if i oc my celeron .18 micron 900 to 1000 or 1200 mhz .. is there a lot of increase in performance in real time ? i mean a performance about the speed at which scale .. like 25 % or more ?? and on my Amptron mobo .. i have in the bios the choice of 9X or 10X or 12X multiplier i think .. for 9X 100 mhz example .. and on the mobo .. i have a jumper to set the freq. at 66, 100, 105, 133 mhz ..
And someone has tried to oc this cpu just a little bit like 900 to 1000 without changing the orignal intel fan ? if yes .. does it run at a good stability ?
Lots of people have done successful minor overclocking with the Intel retail fan. It all depends on your CPU load temperatures. Personally, I think if you used a good thermal paste between the CPU core and the heatsink (instead of that crappy heat tape/pad that usually is provided), then overclocking a 900 up to about 1000 probably would be ok, if the temps don't get too high.

See if you can save up some cash for a better overclocking boards... The Amptrons aren't good at all..
They won't provide you with the full potential of your chip.

Also, you can't change the multiplier on the celeron or P3 chips, they are locked at the factory and nobody has figured out how to beat the lock. Your only option is to overclock the front side bus speeds.
Yup as mentioned the multipleirs are locked ... Thats where the intel systems could overclock more if they didn't have the locked multipliers ...
:) Jee wonder what that 533 100% overclock would go to if the multiplier was unlocked!

Lol, yea, it's a shame. Unfortunately Intel's more concerned with getting an extra $150 in their already overstuffed coffers from you for buying a new, faster processor than having you figure out you can just make your old one that fast by tinkering with the multiplier a little. Hehe... always keepin' my eye out for some of those "confidential" cpus you see every once in awhile... God I wish they "accidentally" made a few more of those.

I guess their really concerned about their money.. The populations of overclockers is 1%..

now my multiplier in my bios .. on my amptron mobo .. is at 9.0x .. i had set this multiplier myself . i can set it to 10.0x and 12.0x i think .. and on my mobo .. the jumpers for 66, 100, 105 or 133 mhz .. so now its on 100 mhz .. for 9.0x 100 mhz .. 900 mhz ..

sorry, but that 8X,9X is unchageable only the 66/100/133....
hein ..?? inside my amibios on my amptron mobo i can really change the 8x or 9 or 10x or 12x .. if i want .. that is not locked ?

What they're saying is that the CPU's built-in multiplier is locked. You can change the BIOS multiplier all you want but it has no effect on the CPU speed, unless you have an engineering sample CPU.
Yep.. So dont bother with the multiplier ..
Just hit the bus up and change the voltage if you can..
But I dont think the Amptron motherboards aren't good for overclocking.... Anyways worth a try.
