Via Chipsets are horrable for Intel processors, the best and proven way is to get a Intel chipset. If you can (and I know it's more expensive) get the P4P800SE (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=P4P800SE-DT&cat=MBB). It's is, on top of being a good chipset, one of the best 478 overclockable boards on the market. Plus if you want to later on you can get an ASUS 478-479 adaptor and run a Dolthan. The Celeron D is based on the Prescott core 90nm and have the abilty to hit 4.0Ghz, more likely 3.8 on a good air setup. Just watch the heat and have a good powersupply.

You can get a $49.99 AR OEM Celeron D 2.96GHz 340 socket 478 from TigerDirect.

OnRebate, who handles that rebate, has an option where you pay $5 of your $50 rebate to get the rebate within 2 business days of them receiving your rebate info.

I did that, and got my rebate in less than one week from mailing off my rebate form stuff to them, deposited into PayPal. :-)

Personally for some cheap fun I would go with a 506 and an Asus P5p800 or Abit equivelent easy 4ghz for less than $200 with inexpensive ram
